Tour Details

A notable ecosystem in close proximity to “Tambo Blanquillo” is the shebonal forest. This particular type of forest possesses a significant concentration of clay, resulting in the formation of clay licks, locally referred to as Collpa. These clay licks serve as essential dietary supplements for macaws and other species inhabiting the rainforest, aiding in the removal of toxins from their digestive systems. Macaws typically acquire these harmful chemical substances from consuming unripe fruits.

Our lodge is conveniently situated a mere 10 minutes away from the Macaw Clay Lick. To facilitate observation and photography of the birds without disturbing their natural behavior, a raised blind, standing 10 meters tall, has been constructed directly facing the clay lick.

This blind is equipped with 40 comfortable seats, each featuring a personal ledge where you can securely place your binoculars and cameras, providing greater stability for capturing magnificent close-up images of the macaws on the clay lick. Additionally, breakfast will be served at the blind, and restroom facilities are available for your convenience.
