The Manu Jungle Tours spanning five days, starting from Cusco and heading to Manu National Park in Peru, have been carefully crafted by local specialists to provide you with an engaging encounter of the Peruvian Amazon.

Manu National Park in Peru covers an expansive area of 1,717,295.22 Hectares. In order to enhance accessibility, the authorities have partitioned it into three distinct zones: the Manu Culture Zone, the Reserved Zone or Biosphere Reserve, and the Intangible Zone.

Typically, shorter Manu Jungle Trips focus on the cultural zone, granting you the opportunity to observe the local way of life and witness various unique animal, bird, and plant species. However, if you choose a tour lasting six days or more, you will venture into the reserved zone, where you will be surrounded by nature and have the chance to explore the untouched regions of the pristine rainforest.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Bamboo Lodge

Our exciting Manu Jungle Tour begins with an early morning departure from Cusco at 6:00 AM. We embark on a scenic journey, starting with a visit to the charming village of Huancarani, where we take a refreshing break and immerse ourselves in the local culture.

Continuing our adventure, we make our way to Paucartambo, a colonial town renowned for its vibrant festivals and traditional architecture. Here, we have the opportunity to explore the town and learn about its fascinating history.

Next, we ascend to the breathtaking Acjanaco Pass or Tres Cruces, a high-altitude vantage point that offers panoramic views of the majestic Andean mountains. From this vantage point, we take in the awe-inspiring beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Descending from the pass, we enter the renowned Manu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a haven for biodiversity. Our expert guide leads us through the heart of the rainforest, where we encounter incredible flora and fauna.

As the day comes to a close, we reach Balcon del Este, a scenic viewpoint that provides a stunning backdrop for a captivating sunset. We then continue our journey to San Pedro, where we spend the night at the cozy Bamboo Lodge, surrounded by the enchanting sounds of the jungle.

Day 2Bamboo Lodge – Palotoa Ecological Reserve (Lodge)

After a restful night at Bamboo Lodge, we begin our second day of the Manu Jungle Tour with an energizing breakfast. Our adventure continues as we depart from the lodge and head towards the Atalaya port, where our river journey commences.

Boarding a comfortable motorized boat, we navigate the winding waters of the Manu River, surrounded by lush greenery and the symphony of exotic bird calls. Keep a lookout for wildlife sightings, including caimans, capybaras, and various monkey species.

As we progress along the river, we reach the confluence with the Alto Madre de Dios River, a majestic waterway that meanders through the heart of the Amazon rainforest. The scenery becomes even more captivating, with dense vegetation lining the riverbanks.

Arriving at Machuwasi Lake, we are greeted by its serene beauty and surrounded by the sounds of nature. Here, we have the opportunity to relax, take in the picturesque views, and perhaps even spot some unique aquatic wildlife.

Continuing our adventure, we make our way to Soga De Oro Lodge, where we will spend the night. This comfortable lodge offers a tranquil retreat in the heart of the jungle, allowing us to relax and rejuvenate after our immersive rainforest experiences.

Day 5Tour, River Journey & Return to Cusco

After a delicious breakfast at Soga De Oro Lodge, we board a boat and set off towards the Macaws Clay Lick. Here, we witness a spectacular display of vibrant macaws and parrots gathering to indulge in mineral-rich clay, creating a breathtaking and colorful sight.

Leaving the clay lick behind, we continue our boat journey, navigating the rivers and soaking in the natural beauty of the surrounding rainforest. We arrive at the Atalaya Port, where our river adventure concludes.

From Atalaya Port, we embark on a comfortable vehicle and begin our return journey to Cusco. As we drive through the captivating landscapes, we reflect upon the incredible experiences and memories created during our time in the Manu Jungle.
