Day 1Cusco - Km 82 - Wayllabamba

Day 1 of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu begins in Cusco, where you will be picked up and transported to Km 82, the starting point of the trail. As you embark on this ancient pilgrimage, you will be greeted by breathtaking views of the magnificent mountain called Veronica or Huacayhuillca, standing tall in the distance.

Day 2Wayllabamba – Warmihuañusca – Pacaymayo

Day 2 of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu begins with an early morning departure from Wayllabamba. As you ascend through the valley of Llulluchapampa, you will be surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas, including the towering peaks of Huayanay and the majestic Vilcabamba range.

The highlight of the day is reaching the challenging Warmihuañusca pass, also known as Dead Woman’s Pass, standing at an elevation of 4,215 meters (13,828 feet). This steep climb tests your endurance but rewards you with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

After conquering the pass, you will descend into the Pacaymayo Valley, where you will set up camp at Pacaymayo. When is the best time to travel the Inca Trail?

The high season on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is from May to September, because this time coincides with vacations in the Western Hemisphere. Can children do the Inca Trail?

– Avoid agitation and strenuous exercise upon arrival in Cusco.

– Spend between 2 and 3 days to acclimatize before starting your walk.

What happens if I get sick and need to go back?
